The Caldwell County Fiscal Court Tuesday morning approved new training initiatives for the sheriff while also receiving important updates from both the emergency medical services and the sheriff’s department, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and community services.
With no unfinished business to address, the magistrates unanimously approved training hours for Sheriff Don Weedman, marking the sole item under new business.
During the reports, Sheriff Don Weedman announced that the department had taken possession of two new vehicles last week, which are now operational. He also provided an update on the staffing situation at the sheriff’s department.

In other reports, the Fiscal Court heard an update from AmeriPro EMS Director of Operations Dana Woolsey. She noted that over the past two weeks, they responded to 100 calls, 35 of which originated from the Caldwell Medical Center. Additionally, she shared some positive news about a few of the medical calls they were sent to.
Woolsey also mentioned that they recently collected donations, which will be sent to North Carolina to assist the victims impacted by Hurricane Helene.
During magistrate reports, District 3 Magistrate Brent Stallins emphasized the importance of the community coming together to support those affected by Hurricane Helene.
District 4 Magistrate Jeff Simms announced that the KY 126 bridge project has been completed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
