Leroy McNeely, a cherished pillar of the Fredonia community, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, at the age of 90, in the same town where he was born on March 10, 1934.
Leroy dedicated many years of service as a corrections officer for the state of Kentucky. Even after retirement, he continued to work as a part-time farmer, nurturing the land with the same care he showed to those around him. His commitment to his faith was evident through his active involvement in the Church of Christ. He also shared his musical talents by playing the guitar and he loved traveling.
Family was the cornerstone of Leroy’s life. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Deidra “Deedi” (Terry) Tosh of Benton; his loving sons, Steve McNeely of California, Allen Wade McNeely, and Mark McNeely, both of Fredonia; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of love and compassion.
Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Cantrell McNeely; his parents, Pratt and Georgie Harper McNeely; and one granddaughter.
