Funeral Services for 87-year-old Shirley Burnam Cook, of Princeton, will be 1 PM Wednesday, October 23, at Goodwin Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until the funeral hour.
Survivors include:
A son, James Cook (Julie), of Princeton;
A brother, Ray Burnam, Sr., of Cadiz;
A sister, Jean Calhoun, of Cadiz;
Two grandsons, Josh Cook and A.J. Cook (Emily);
And a great grandson, Owen Cook.
She died at 12:45 PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation in Princeton.
She was born February 23, 1937, in Trigg County, to late Sammie Carl and Eunice Mitchell Burnam.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Willis Burnam, Carl Burnam, and Sammie Lee Burnam, as well as two sisters in infancy, Phyllis Burnam and Eunice Burnam.
She retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the Caldwell County School System, where she served as the cafeteria manager.
A devoted member of Southside Baptist Church, she had a heart for God and for helping others. Her nurturing also extended to her green thumb, as she loved seeing her African violets bloom. She was an extraordinary cook, an enthusiastic game show fan, and an avid collector of trinkets.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Harley Cook, in 2004; and her son, Charles Cook, in 2017.
