A Caldwell County High School student recently won the district Outstanding Youth contest held for local students by the Kentucky Farm Bureau.
Daniel Laurent first of all won the Caldwell County Farm Bureau contest and then advanced to the district contest where he was victorious with the first-place prize. He will now move on to the Kentucky State Farm Bureau contest to be held in Louisville in December. This was not the first time for Laurent to enter this contest.

click to download audioThe contestants are not informed of what the questions will be before the contest but are responsible for choosing a topic for their speech and preparing it. In the upcoming state contest, he will be presenting his speech in front of the entire Farm Bureau convention.

Laurent is a senior at the local high school and also serves as president of both the Caldwell County FFA Chapter and Pennyrile Region FFA. He is also a member of the high school football and track teams.
