Janet Dean Ennis Herring, age 68, of Eddyville, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 19, 1956, to the late Rodney Nash Ennis and Beatrice June Storms.
Janet was the president and owner of Herring Construction and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed working in the yard, refinishing furniture and sewing. She was able to read magazines and take those inspirations and bring them to life. Many of her hardworking hours were spent putting in the restoration of her favorite getaway, the cabin by the pond. Her greatest joy was loving her family, and being the “go-to” person and she thrived on helping others.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mike Herring of Eddyville; daughter, Deanna (Jeff) Doom of Eddyville; son, Michael Shane Smith of Eddyville; bonus daughters, Amanda Peacock of Franklin, TN, Jamie Travis of Eddyville and Carrie Herring of Kuttawa; bonus son, John Michael (Jessica) Herring of Eddyville; sisters, Theresa (Danny) Jones of Princeton, Sandy (Ellis) Meredith of Cadiz; brother, Charles (Vickie) Ennis of Cadiz; sister-in-law, Faye Ennis; grandchildren, Brittany (Wyatt) Hale, Cody Doom, Ashlyn Doom, Ari Smith, Zach (Heather) Peacock, Alex (Christi) Peacock, Madeline Travis, Richmond Herring and Connor Herring; great-grandchildren, Jackson Peacock and Noah Pitt; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale Ennis and Roger Ennis.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, at Lakeland Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
