At Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Caldwell County Fiscal Court advanced the library expansion project by approving architect recommendations and awarded a bid for a new generator at the jail.
Judge-Executive Kota Young presented the architect recommendations for the George Coon Public Library expansion, which were evaluated by a local committee. Alongside Library Director Nichelle Faughn, he recommended RBS Design Group Architecture and Brandstetter Carroll, Inc.

In other new business, the magistrates approved a $58,500 bid from Phelps Electric, Inc. for a generator at the Caldwell County Jail. Jailer Willie Harper noted that most of the cost would be covered by KaCo.

In other actions, the magistrates approved a resolution to declare a 2016 Ford Expedition with over 151,000 miles as surplus property from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, setting a minimum bid of $4,000, and approved a technical services agreement with Strand Associates.
