James Edward Traylor, age 87, passed away on October 30, 2024, at his home. Born on October 26, 1937, in Caldwell County, James’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, commitment, and the importance of family.
James is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carol Merrick Traylor, one daughter, Bonita (Duncan) Truitt of Kevil, Kentucky; two grandchildren Aaron Truitt of Paducah and Kristi Keeling of Paducah and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Sanford Traylor and Elizabeth Thomason Traylor and one sister, Rebecca Howton.
Throughout his life, James was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his career. He began his career at Dunn and Spikard Service Station in Princeton. His career path later led him to work for the railroad, and later to ITT Grinell where he retired as a respected foreman. Even in retirement, James thrived as he took joy in working as a carpenter.
James was a devout member of Bethany Methodist Church, where he regularly attended Sunday school, nurturing his faith and fellowship with others.
He was an avid golfer at Princeton Golf Club and enjoyed taking care of his yard. Every morning he enjoyed coffee at Heaton’s BBQ with some of his good friends. He will be remembered as a faith-filled and loving husband and father.
Visitation will be held for James Traylor Monday, November 4, 2024, at Morgan’s Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 4, 2024, at Morgan’s Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Bro. Shuck officiating.
A Committal service will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
