An earthquake that occurred in the Missouri Bootheel was felt by some in Western Kentucky late Saturday night.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 3.7 magnitude earthquake Saturday night at 10:44 two miles from Steele, Missouri. Steele is located near Interstate 55 and is about 2 and a half hours from the Hopkinsville and Cadiz area.
The USGS says a 3.7 magnitude earthquake is near the moderately strong level and can be felt by people indoors, result in hanging objects swinging, rattling of plates and dishes, and strong movement of water.
