Gas Prices Trickle Higher As Thanksgiving Approaches

Inching closer to the Thanksgiving travel season, gas price averages in west central Kentucky are two cents higher per gallon this week than last — up to $2.66 per gallon.

That’s according to the AAA East Central Gas Price Report, which noted gas was around $2.64 a gallon last week, but around $2.98 a gallon this time last year.

Around the area, a price for a gallon of gas is around $2.79 in Trigg County; $2.68 in Christian County; $2.65 in Todd County; $2.75 in Lyon County; 2.78 in Caldwell County; and it’s hovering at $2.63 in Hopkins County.

The average prices of unleaded self-serve gasoline in Kentucky’s other areas include: $2.60 in Bowling Green, $2.63 in Elizabethtown, $2.86 in Louisville, $2.57 in Owensboro and $2.65 in Paducah.

The state’s average price in $2.76. The nation’s average, meanwhile, has fallen a penny over the past week to $3.07, and the current average is now less than a dime away from dipping below $3 for the first time since May of 2021.

Today’s national average is 12 cents less than a month ago and 25 cents less than a year ago.

Currently, the nation’s lowest gas prices can be found in Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri.
