RWE Clean Energy Urges Caldwell County to Revise Solar Setback Ordinance

RWE Clean Energy appeared before the Caldwell County Review Board Tuesday night, advocating for a significant reduction in the county’s solar project setback requirement to better align with industry standards and the Kentucky Model Solar Ordinance.

Spencer Blaney from RWE highlighted the contrast between the setbacks for solar projects approved in Kentucky and the 2,000-foot setback requirement in Caldwell County.

He noted that these setback requirements are generally consistent with industry standards nationwide and align with the Kentucky Model Solar Ordinance.

click to download audioA property owner on Otter Pond Road mentioned that he discussed the 200-foot setback with a neighbor, who was comfortable with it. He expressed that the county’s 2,000-foot setback requirement seems “ridiculous.”
