Geneva Rustin, 96, of Caldwell County

We gather not in sorrow, but in celebration of the life of Geneva Rustin, a beacon of love, who was called home to glory on the 27th of November, 2024. Born on the 13th of January, 1928, in Crittenden County, Geneva was a woman of strength, grace, and unwavering faith, whose journey on this earth came to a restful conclusion at the Princeton Health and Nursing Home.

Geneva was a treasure to all who knew her. She walked through life with a heart full of compassion, hands that worked tirelessly, and a spirit that inspired joy. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom, blessed Geneva with a family that was the very essence of her existence. Her progeny, the fruits of her love, include her daughters, Debbie Towery and her husband, David, and Melinda Holloman, both of Princeton; sons, Larry Rustin and wife, Janice of Fredonia and Terry Rustin and wife Lisa of Hopkinsville; cherished grandchildren: Brandon and his wife Patricia Rustin, Brock Rustin, Trent and his wife Ashley Rustin, LeAnn and her husband Kenny Maloney, and Elaina and her husband James Bond. From these branches grew the tender leaves of her great-grandchildren: Riley, Curtis, Zackary, Ella Kate Rustin, and Rebekah Stanley and her husband Brayden, Lauren Maloney, and Sydney Bond. Her life was further enriched by several devoted nieces and nephews who will carry forward her legacy.

Though the heavens rejoiced at her arrival, we on earth feel the absence left by this virtuous woman, who was preceded in her heavenly journey by her beloved husband, Forest Eroy Rustin; her guiding stars, parents Corbett and Barbara Bryant Travis; her son, Jeff Rustin, her grandson, Zachary Rustin; and her loving sisters and brothers. Her family, a testament to her love and nurturing, remains a living homage to her memory.

In her earthly role, Geneva embraced the sacred calling of a homemaker, a title she bore with honor and distinction. She created a home that was both a sanctuary and a place of gathering, where all were welcome and love.. Her hands, skilled in gardening and preparing meals for her family, especially her jellies and jams.

Geneva’s passions extended beyond the hearth; she loved with the same intensity with which she lived. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life, and her devotion to them was a radiant example of unconditional love. She imparted wisdom, instilled values, and left an indelible mark on their hearts that will guide them through the days ahead.

Today let us remember Geneva Rustin as a woman of unwavering commitment to her family and her community. Let us hold tight to the memories she gifted us, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared. Geneva’s journey was long and full of grace, and now she rests in the Lord’s embrace, free from the toils of this world.

As we commend her spirit to the Almighty, let us give thanks for the time we were graced with her presence. Let us rejoice in the knowledge that Geneva Rustin, a true daughter, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a faithful friend and neighbor, now sings with the angels in the heavenly choir.

In the fullness of time, we shall meet her again on that golden shore, but until that day, let her life be a beacon to us all. May we walk in the path of her righteousness, and may her legacy continue through the generations. Geneva Rustin, your memory will be forever etched in our hearts, and your spirit will live on through the lives you’ve touched.
