Harold Ray Townsend, age 84, of Dawson Springs passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Dawson Pointe Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Townsend was born on June 1, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late Norman Ray Townsend and Rowena McNeeley Townsend. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs was a graduate of Dawson Springs High School. Harold worked most of his life as an underground coal miner and for many years as a long-haul truck driver.
Mr. Townsend is survived by his daughter ~ Ashlee Townsend Mawdsley; his son and daughter-in-law~ Retired US Army Colonel Stacy and Rebecca Townsend; a sister ~ Donna Beshear and one grandson ~ Jacob Mawdsley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife ~ Tana Warren Townsend; sisters ~ Carole Ruth Grisham and Marsha Gail Hall; a brother ~ Kenneth Wayne Townsend and a still-born brother ~ Terry Lane Townsend.
Visitation for Harold Ray Townsend will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY with Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Jake Mawdsley, Tommy Beshear, Tyler Beshear, Timmy Beshear, Evan Stewart and Hayden Stewart. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Cummins and Billy West.
