A Houston, Texas, man was charged after a wreck that killed a Hopkinsville woman on US 68 in Fairview Wednesday afternoon.
Todd County emergency personnel say a car driven by 58-year-old Karen Hargrove and a truck driven by 60-year-old Timothy Todrank collided near the intersection of Goshen Road, killing Hargrove.
Hargrove was pronounced dead at the scene by the Todd County Coroner’s Office, who also notified her family before releasing her name.
In the citation given to the jail during Todrank’s arrest, it stated he was lethargic and could not maintain verbal communication but later admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel, crossing the median, and striking another vehicle.
The eastbound lanes were blocked for several hours as the crash was investigated by Kentucky State Police.
According to the citation, Todrank was taken to Jennie Stuart Health for medical clearance and stated he took some kind of unknown substance he was given in Hopkinsville but only after the collision.
Todrank was booked into the Todd County Detention Center on charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
