Festive Floats Brighten Fredonia Christmas Parade Despite Cold Weather (w/PHOTOS)

Friday night was the annual Christmas Parade in Fredonia and in spite of the weather with the temperature in the mid 20’s there was an impressive number of entries this year.

The Fredonia First Baptist Church parking lot was the site for the parade line up with entries arriving shortly after 5:00 pm to set up for the 6:00 pm parade. There was a steady arrival of trucks, tractors, float, vehicles, the local high school band, and horses. Entries were decorated with the traditional Christmas scenes or the theme of the parade for this year being How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

At 6:00 pm the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department blocked the street and fire trucks kicked off the Parade with the Fredonia Fire Department and trucks from Salem and Princeton. They were followed by vehicles with bright multi-colored lights tossing candy as they made their way down the main street of Fredonia and concluded with horses decked out with Christmas lights.

The Grand Marshals of the Fredonia Christmas Parade were the business and staff of Feagan’s Furniture of Fredonia. Dawn Etta Russell of Feagans shared they always attended the parade and they were honored to be chosen as Grand Marshall and be a part of it this year.
