Walter Johnson, 97, of Kuttawa

Walter Lee Johnson, age 97, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Southgate Nursing and Rehab in Metropolis, IL. He was a member of Potter’s House Baptist Church, Smithland, KY, and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. Walter loved fishing and hunting but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Emma Holt Johnson, Kuttawa, KY; one daughter, Brenda Williams, Eddyville, KY; one son, Kenneth (Carol) Johnson, Calvert City, KY; one brother, Lonnie Johnson, Hanson KY; four grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Williams, Jamie (Tahney) Williams, Seth (Renay) Johnson, Austin Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Emma Williams, Gabe Williams, Logan Williams, Cooper Williams, Ayoka Johnson, Jensen Cosby, Jada Cosby and J.T. Cosby and several nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lucy Anna DeVault Johnson, two sisters, Elizabeth Thompson and Violet Blue, five brothers, Henry Johnson, Duke Johnson, Clay Johnson, Grant Johnson, Robert Johnson, one son-in-law, Joe Williams and one granddaughter-in-law, Samantha Williams.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the funeral home with Bro. Andrew Sexton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Lyon County.
