Ramona June Johnston, known affectionately to all as Momma June, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 90 in Princeton.
June was born on August 10, 1934, in Lamasco, KY, to the late HH “Preacher” and Sidney Jones Thompson. She dedicated over three decades of her life to the University of Kentucky Experiment Farm in Princeton before her retirement at the age of 84. Momma June was a woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm, known for her love of the University of Kentucky basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. Her enthusiasm wasn’t limited to sports; she was also passionate about her hobbies, which included bowling, water skiing, quilting, and dancing. Renowned for her loving nature, hilarious wit, and spirited zest for life, Momma June embraced every moment with joy and an infectious smile that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a member of Eddy Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Christi (John) Forsythe of Princeton and Lisa (Robin) Morris of Princeton; sister, Geraldine Wynn of Marshall County; grandchildren, Janet Forsythe, Melody Markham, Michael (Julie) Forsythe and Jason Morris; great-grandchildren, Ramey Board, Harrison Markham, Jameson Markham, Noah Morris, Jacob Forsythe and Emma Forsythe; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, June is preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Ramey Johnston; two daughters, Vicki and Alice Johnston; and two sisters, Joyce Murphy and Janice Robertson.
Visitation for June Johnston will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.
Graveside services will follow on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Eddy Creek Church Cemetery with Bro. Dean Ray officiating.
