Although the exact track of this weekend’s winter storm remains unknown, the National Weather Service in Paducah has already taken action by issuing a Winter Storm Watch for Hopkins, Muhlenberg, and Crittenden Counties in western Kentucky.

The watch goes into effect early Sunday morning and remains in effect until 6:00 Monday and calls for heavy mixed precipitation, including total snow and sleet accumulations of four inches or more and ice accumulations of one-quarter inch or more.

The watch says that power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible.

For areas to the south, the latest guidance is calling for the potential of freezing rain before changing to rain, some travel impacts are possible Sunday morning.

Your Weather Edge will continue breaking down the latest updates all weekend long on-air and on our websites.
