The Pennyrile Regional Energy Agency (PREA) officially named its planned 53-mile natural gas pipeline the ‘Pennyrile Energy Corridor’ at last week’s meeting. This major infrastructure project, announced in 2022, aims to connect five counties – Lyon, Caldwell, Trigg, Christian, and Todd – to a reliable, high-volume natural gas supply.
Eston Glover, PREA board chairman said, “The Pennyrile Energy Corridor will be a regional game-changer, attracting businesses and creating jobs.”
Jason Vincent, executive director of the Pennyrile Area Development District, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential for significant economic growth.
The Corridor will draw gas from the existing ANR trunk line near Lamasco and follow Interstate 24 for most of its route. Pre-construction activities are underway, including design, and environmental studies. The project is 80 percent complete in securing easements. Fort Campbell has also expressed interest and signed a letter of intent.
During the January 2, 2025 meeting, Glover also reported on recent meetings with congressional offices in Washington, D.C., emphasizing the potential for federal support and the importance of a redundant gas connection for Fort Campbell.
