An Eddyville man faces multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman and choked her during a domestic dispute in McCracken County Tuesday evening.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched to an assault on Benton Road in Reidland, where the victim had fled the residence and was waiting to meet a deputy at a local business.
According to deputies, the victim said she tried to leave the residence multiple times after a verbal argument with 33-year-old Phillip Williams. The victim claimed that Williams struck her in the mouth with a closed fist, then took her purse and used its strap to choke her, restricting her airway. Deputies said she also reported that Williams covered her mouth during the choking incident.
Deputies arrived at the Benton Road residence and discovered Williams inside, where they reported that he had damaged the victim’s property.
Williams was taken into custody and charged with fourth-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment and first-degree strangulation. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
