Joe Oden, a man of passion and unparalleled work ethic, departed this world on January 15, 2025, at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky, at the age of 84.
Joe was born to the late Wallace and Novella Hensley Oden on December 18, 1940, in Caldwell County, Kentucky. Joe proudly served his nation in the US Army. Beginning his work career in the steel mills of Gary, Indiana, Joe’s industrious spirit soon led him back to Kentucky. There, he intertwined his love for the land with his fondness for community service, dedicating time to farming tobacco, volunteering on the rescue squad, and protecting his neighbors during two terms as deputy sheriff. However, Joe truly left his mark as the proud owner of a body shop, where he expertly melded his work ethic with his lifelong passion for cars. Joe was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Joe’s legacy of hard work and dedication is carried on by his two daughters, Kim (Brent) Futrell and Faith (Richard) Kell, as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Sara Ruth Lassiter Oden; grandson, William Matthew Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Adilene Morton.
Services for Joe Oden will be private.
Burial will be in Eddycreek Church Cemetery.
