At Monday night’s Caldwell County Board of Education meeting, two board members were sworn in, and the board began the process of filling a vacated seat.
LeAnne Orange, the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, administered the Oath of Office to Board members Anna Ray and Stacy Brantley, who were reelected to their positions in November.
After the swearing-in, the Board re-elected Tim Kennaday to continue as chairperson and Kim Cook to continue as vice-chairperson for the 2025-2026 term.
In new business, the board accepted the resignation of District 1 member Josh Ramage, elected in November, and declared the seat vacant. Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach stated that the position will be advertised for a minimum of two weeks, with the appointment required to be made within 60 days.
Roach further explained that if the board is unable to decide on filling the vacant seat, the Commissioner of Education will step in to appoint someone.
click to download audioIn other new business, the Board approved the draft budget of over $23.2 million for Fiscal Year 2026 confirmed the unchanged schedule for regular board meetings in 2025, and approved an agreement with Baptist Health for student health services.

click to download audioKennaday proposed that the Board cover two-thirds of the cost of the sunshades, amounting to $25,000, instead of half, which was unanimously approved.
After an executive session, the Board returned to open session and approved a four-year contract for Roach to continue as superintendent from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029, increasing his salary from $131,000 to $140,000 annually.
