It is with great sadness and much love we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Shirley Decoma Key passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, in Kuttawa, KY at the age of 87. She was born in Madisonville, KY on May 4, 1937. She was full of life, kind and loving to all.
Shirley has been a valued member of this community since 1974 and even owned one of the local restaurants years ago. Before making Rivers Bend her home, she was a valued Office Assistant to her son for years.
She is survived by her loving sons James “Bubby” Breedlove of Mexico, KY, Wayne Breedlove (Lisa) and Billy Joe Breedlove, both of Eddyville; beloved grandchildren Shirley Ann (Scott) Colley, James Russell (Rachel) Smothermon, Dawn (Sean) Cotham, Charles Breedlove, Jeremy Breedlove; beloved great-grandchildren Gavin, Owen, Lincoln, Piper, River, Sloan, Creed, Ashton and Luke.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Edmond Hampton and Jessie Delores Foster Key, her brother Hampton Wayne Key and her adored daughter, Kathryn Delores Smothermon.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, February 1, 202,5 at Lakeland Funeral Home. A service will be held Saturday, February 1, 202,5 at 1 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home with Brother Jeremy Short officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville, KY.
