Kimberly Young, 46, of Dawson Springs

Kimberly Marie Young, affectionately known as Kim to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the age of 46. Born on October 7, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois, Kim’s radiant spirit and boundless compassion were evident from a young age. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love and warmth of her family at her parents’ home in Dawson Springs.

Kim is lovingly remembered by her devoted parents, Virginia Marie Long and Randall Holis Long; two brothers, Kerry Long of Cedar Lake, IN, and Randall Long Jr. (Suzy) of Crete, IL. Her family circle extended to her three aunts, Diane (Jim) Anderson of Prescott AZ, Kathleen (Rick) Rheinhardt of Ft. Meyers FL., and Eileen Beringer of Mundelein IL., as well as her uncle, Bob (Melinda) Long of Franklin IN. Kim’s life was further enriched by her special friends, including the Renee Pena family, Sandy’s family, and friend Hilary.

She was preceded in death by her two uncles, George Maier and Michael Maier.

Kim’s professional life was a reflection of her innate desire to nurture and care for others. As a group home manager, she found her calling and dedicated herself to loving those in her care. Kim’s kindness and generosity extended beyond her professional role, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kim loved animals and had a passion for baking. Kim’s adventurous spirit led her to travel with friends, exploring new places and creating memories to cherish. Those who knew her will remember her vibrant personality, her outgoing nature, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved. She had the rare ability to make everyone around her feel special and valued. Her caring heart knew no bounds, and she often went out of her way to help anyone in need.
