Princeton Police Chief Updates City Council on Staffing and Training

At Monday night’s City Council meeting, Princeton Police Chief Chris King provided an update on the department’s staffing, highlighting ongoing training efforts and the current personnel status.

Chief King announced that one officer is set to graduate from the police academy this week, while another officer is scheduled to begin training at the police academy in March.

He also reported that despite the reduced manpower, the police department’s activities for 2024 remained consistent, with the exception of a slight decrease in citations.

According to the report for 2024, Princeton Police made 312 felony arrests, and 407 misdemeanor arrests, and served 328 warrants, summons, and protective orders.

Princeton Police also responded to 3,909 calls for service in 2024 and investigated 232 vehicle collisions, including one fatality and eighteen injuries.

Additionally, officers issued a total of 350 traffic citations last year, 28 written warnings and 595 verbal warnings.

In 2024, Princeton Police also assisted 104 motorists.
