Mrs. Glenda Kay McCollum, age 83, of Kuttawa, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Born on October 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Eula Mae Robertson.
Kay graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University. Kay worked in the Lyon County School system for 14 years. She then earned the position of Regional Director of the Girl Scouts of America and later became the Director of Kentucky Western Waterlands. Serving in her community and being active in local and state government, Kay served as President of the Kentucky State Women’s Democratic Club. She served as Co-Chairwoman of the Kentucky Tourism Council’s Legislative Committee. She was a member of the Lyon County Democratic Party Executive Committee. She also served as Chairwoman and member of the Kuttawa Relocation Foundation Board. She was the first female to serve on the Kuttawa City Council. Kay had the honor of serving as Kentucky Delegate in 1992 and 2004 at the Democratic National Convention. In 1993 Kay was honored with the Women of Achievement Award by the Paducah River City chapter of BPW. In 2016 she received the Rose Award for High Achievement presented by the Democratic Women’s Club of Kentucky.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 years, Lee “Butch” McCollum, Daughter: Cindy(Brian) Gray, Grandson B.T. Gray, and Great Grandson Max Gray, Son: Tim McCollum(Christy) and Granddaughters Kaylee McCollum and Emily(Yi) Song, Brothers: Pipper(Yvonne) Robertson, Tony(Ella) Robertson, Sister: Vicki(Ron) Faulkner, Sister-in-laws Connie Hawkins Robertson and Connie Gray Robertson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Eddie Robertson and Jimmy Robertson and one sister Mossie (JB) Combs.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15. 2025 at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Steve McVay officiating and burial will follow in Kuttawa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday at Dunn’s
