Patsy Jean McDowell, age 92, of Kuttawa, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Lake Barkley Heath and Rehabilitation.
Patsy was born on September 7, 1932, in Princeton, KY to the late John and Mary Simpson. Dedicated to supporting young minds, Patsy spent many fulfilling years as an educator in East Saint Louis, where her passion for helping children learn shone brightly. Outside of school, Patsy’s beautiful singing voice graced many occasions, from church services to wedding ceremonies, bringing joy and inspiration to those around her. Her love for music was only surpassed by the love she held for her church ladies groups, with whom she shared many treasured moments.
Survivors include her grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Pat” McDowell; son, Tommy McDowell; granddaughter, Lydia McDowell; sister, Martha Ann Delawson; brothers, Bobby Simpson and Harold Simpson
