Harold Holloman, 85, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois

Harold Wayne “Hoolie” Holloman, 85, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel.

Wayne spent most of his younger years in Fredonia, Kentucky where he was born on June 22, 193,9 to his late parents, Eugene and Gennie Louise Holloman. After high school, he served in the United States Army before later reenlisting in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. During his service, he was deployed to White Sands and Alaska before returning home. After his service, he was employed with Dowell as a Diesel Mechanic. After 25 years with Dowell between Mt. Carmel and Henderson, Kentucky, Wayne picked up part-time work at Rural King in Mt. Carmel. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel and was known for his willingness to always help others. He was known in his neighborhood for always lending a helping hand and passionately decorating his house for the holidays. In his free time, he loved to mow, fish and walk. He would often walk up to town and do some automotive work on the side.

Wayne was survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda L. Holloman; son, Gary Wayne Holloman of Martinsville, IN; grandson, Gavin Lucas Holloman of Martinsville, IN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James “Cricket” and Francis Holloman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Morgan’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
