A downed TVA power line resulted in thousands of Pennyrile Electric customers waking up to no power Friday morning, on one of the coldest mornings of the winter.
The power went out not long after 6:00 Friday morning affecting approximately 12,000 customers.
Officials reported that the outage was due to a broken conductor on their TVA transmission line, and not related to the weather or high demand.
At the peak of the outage, approximately 1,200 Pennyrile Electric customers in Caldwell and Lyon counties were affected with power restored to most all of the customers in Caldwell and Lyon by 9:00 this morning.
As of 10:30 AM, Pennyrile Electric officials said they were able to restore power to more than 7,600 members since the start of the outage, with all power restored by around 2:30 Friday afternoon.
The downed line also knocked out power to the WKDZ/WHVO studios, which also suffered a generator failure, knocking the stations off the air.
