Road conditions improved Friday in the city of Princeton and Caldwell County following a winter storm earlier this week that dropped several inches of snow, with clearing efforts hindered by extremely cold temperatures.
Caldwell County Road Department Superintendent David Waldrum says county roads are generally very clear, with some scattered slick spots, but nothing that should stop travel as long as drivers stay vigilant and use caution.
As of noon, Waldrum says a few county roads still have high water over them. Those were Needmore Road, Jo Jones Road, Cannon Road, and Young Cemetery Road.
He says county road crews will be back out Monday morning checking road and drainage conditions to make necessary repairs where needed.
Meanwhile, Pubic Works Director Chris Pool says all streets in the city of Princeton are mostly clear. However, he urges motorists to drive with caution as the temperature drops Friday night they could refreeze from the melting today.
Friday afternoon, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported that KY 126 in Caldwell County is still blocked by high water at the 4.7-mile point, and KY 128 is still blocked by high water at the 3.2-mile point.
