A Princeton man was taken to the hospital and subsequently arrested for his third DUI charge after crashing his SUV into a tree on Monday.
Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison reported the single-vehicle wreck occurred on North Jefferson Street shortly before 9:30 Monday morning.
He said the investigation revealed that 30-year-old Michael Guill lost control of his SUV while driving north on North Jefferson, veering off the road onto the sidewalk, hitting a speed limit sign and trash cans, and then returning to the road. At the intersection of Skyline Drive, officers reported that Guill’s vehicle struck an embankment, went up a hill, and crashed head-on into a tree, causing severe damage and deploying the airbags.
According to police, Guill was extracted from the SUV by the Princeton Fire Department and transported by AmeriPro EMS to Caldwell County Medical Center.
Upon further investigation, officers determined that Guill was under the influence of intoxicants. After being released from the hospital, he was taken into custody and charged with DUI 3rd offense, driving on a DUI suspended license 1st offense, no insurance 2nd offense, and expired plates.
Guill was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
