City Council Provided Updates on Roof Collapse and Trash Removal

At Monday night’s meeting, the Princeton City Council received updates on local issues, including trash and limb pickups and a roof collapse at a downtown building.

Mayor Brock Thomas gave a code enforcement update on the roof collapse at a building marked by cones across from City Hall on West Main Street, as Code Enforcement Officer Alan Getz was absent from the meeting.

In the department reports, Public Works Superintendent Chris Pool shared updates on the amount of trash collected from right-of-ways and the number of loads received at the Recycling Center during the first three days of the spring drop-off.

In the mayor’s report, Thomas mentioned that Public Works crews have collected nearly 150 loads of limbs.

click to download audioIn unfinished business, the City Council unanimously approved the second reading of an ordinance amending the budget by approximately $110,000 for the purchase of two new police cruisers for the Princeton Police Department to replace two wrecked vehicles.

In new business, the City Council declared a list of unused Public Works items, such as mowers, backhoes, and compressors, as surplus to be auctioned off at the West Kentucky Auction Barn to recoup funds for future projects or equipment.

Before the meeting adjourned, City Clerk and Caldwell County Chamber Board President Julie Poole introduced the Chamber’s new executive director, Jennifer Walters, to the city council and attendees.
