Firefighters tackled a fire Wednesday night at Indian Point Campground involving campers.

Eddyville Fire Department officials reported that firefighters were dispatched to the fire before 7:30 p.m. and found two campers engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to two more. Officials said they swiftly deployed hose lines to contain the blaze and protect nearby areas.

Fire officials noted that strong winds complicated suppression efforts, but crews efficiently brought the fire under control. They said a secondary sweep of the two affected campers that sustained minimal damage was conducted, and a thermal imaging camera confirmed that all remaining hot spots were extinguished, with no further fire threat found.

Officials stated that the campers served as weekend summer homes and were unoccupied at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Lyon County EMS assisted the Eddyville Fire Department at the scene.
