Doris Blackburn Thomas, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at the age of 95 in her hometown of Princeton, KY. Born on February 20, 1930, to the late Jack and Lucy Oliver Blackburn, Doris was a lifelong resident of Princeton, where she cultivated a life rich in family, education, and community service.
A proud graduate of Caldwell County High School, Class of 1948, Doris went on to serve as a dedicated dossier at Adsmore Museum, where her passion for history and culture shone brightly. Her commitment to her community was further evidenced by her over 60 years of membership at Ogden United Methodist Church, her active involvement in the John Caldwell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and her contributions to the Friends of the Library and Historical Society.
Doris’s legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her daughter, Phyllis (Joe) Shore of Princeton, and son, Dickie (Vivian) Thomas of Campbellsville. She was the cherished grandmother to Shannon (Chris) Clark of Campbellsville and Rachel (Troy) Messamore of Princeton, and adored great-grandmother to Abby, Ethan, Cameron, Blair, and Christian. Her warmth and guidance will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ralph and Dale Blackburn.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
