Brent Oliver, 60, of Crittenden County

Brent Shannon Oliver, a steadfast presence in the hearts of his loved ones, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 60 in Paducah, KY. Born on May 20, 1964, in Frankfort, KY, Brent’s life was characterized by his loving and kind nature, touching the lives of all who knew him.

Brent spent his professional life dedicated to public safety as a respected guard at the Kentucky State Penitentiary. His unwavering commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and his community. Beyond his professional endeavors, Brent was deeply involved with the Friendship Methodist Church, finding solace and fellowship within its congregation.

An individual of diverse interests, Brent found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He held an enduring passion for classic cars, taking immense pride in restoring and showcasing them. His love for the outdoors was reflected in his fondness for fishing, riding horses and four-wheeling, activities that offered him both excitement and tranquility. With a vibrant spirit, Brent reveled in the thrill of gambling, his laughter a common echo amidst the camaraderie of friends. He also enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises.

Never one to pass up a good deal, Brent was a regular presence at auctions and sales, his keen eye for value and his genuine delight in discovery always evident.

Brent was a family man at his core. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his daughter, Amanda Oliver of Kevil; son, Levi Oliver of Marion; and his devoted mother, Elizabeth Gray Oliver. His sisters, Saundra Ramey of Mississippi and Darla Spurlock of Clarksville, TN, remember him with tender affection. The joy of Brent’s life was multiplied by his grandchildren, Maliyah Woodson, Makanda Rolfe, Le’Ajayne Oliver, K’Veon Cain, Shya McCurin, Kayson Oliver, and Kenyon Oliver. Each one held a special place in his heart, and he reveled in their accomplishments and milestones.

Brent was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Oliver; daughter, Shannon Oliver; brother, Darryl Oliver; and granddaughter, Chandra Sterling. The memories shared with them remained a treasured part of Brent’s journey.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 4, 202,5 at Lakeland Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Lyon County.
