
The Princeton Electric Plant Board has been nationally recognized for achieving outstanding electrical reliability in 2024 by the American Public Power Association, a trade organization representing more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.
Paul Zummo, director of research and development at the American Public Power Association, stated that data consistently shows public power utilities offer highly reliable service. He said that the recognized utilities are exceptional in maintaining power, and their communities should be proud of their dedication and hard work in earning this recognition.
Officials stated that public power customers across the nation experience less than half the outage time compared to those served by other types of utilities.
In a written statement, Princeton Electric Plant Board General Manager Chris Burton said they are proud to receive this recognition. He noted it’s a testament to the hard work of all their staff to ensure that they keep Princeton powered.
Official reported that Princeton Electric Plant Board customers experience an average of 6.58 minutes of power outages per year, excluding major events. They noted that the power is on 99.9987% of the time, placing the Princeton Electric Plant Board among the top 25 municipal utilities in the nation for reliability.
