Dana Getz, 78, of New Albany, Indiana

Dana Allen Getz, affectionately known as Dana, passed away at the age of 78 in New Albany, Indiana, on April 12, 2025. Born on December 1, 1946, in Princeton, Kentucky to the late Jack Getz and Jane Crowell Getz, Dana was a man known for his unwavering work ethic, his devotion to his community, and his boundless love for life’s simpler pleasures.

A proud alumni of Caldwell County High School Class of 1964, Dana’s athletic talents led him to become part of the 1963 state champion football team. Dana served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1966- 1968. His pursuit of education took him to Murray State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture in 1974. Dana’s career was as storied as his personal hobbies. His early professional ventures included positions at Arvins and Grinnell in Princeton, before taking on managerial roles at USave Foods and later serving as a Brokerage Manager at Mercer Transportation in Louisville. Dana saw the country through the window of his truck, retiring as a self-employed over-the-road driver with more than a million miles to his name.

A passion for excitement was evident in Dana’s fondness for motorcycle racing in the 70s and 80s, and his enjoyment in fishing and treasure hunting at auctions and yard sales. His faith played a central role in his life; he was a committed member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Clarksville, Indiana, and previously, Northside Baptist Church when residing in Princeton. Dana also extended his sense of service to his fellow veterans through his membership in the American Legion, further exemplifying his deep sense of community. His legacy of strength, joy, and dedication will be profoundly missed by the many lives he touched.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Robin Tatum Getz; sons, John Manley (Angie) Getz of Fredonia and Joel Wade Getz of Kuttawa; sisters, Mary Jane Getz of Princeton and Janis (Ronnie) P’Pool of Princeton; three grandchildren, Carter Getz, Brittany Leigh and Krystal Angel; 13 great-grandchildren.
