The Hopkins County Grand Jury returned four indictments from its April Session on sex-related crimes.

A true bill was returned on Thomas Martin of Dawson Springs on charges of first-degree rape of a minor under 12, incest, and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor under 12. The indictment alleges that these crimes took place between August 1, 2020, and November 1, 2020. The case was investigated by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.

The grand jury issued two indictments against Mason Mayes of Princeton. The first indictment charges Mayes with procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means and distributing obscene material to minors between January 1, 2025, and February 6, 2025. The second indictment accuses Mayes of seven counts of possessing material depicting a sexual performance by a minor during the same period.

According to an investigation by the Madisonville Police, detectives observed several sexual conversations between Mayes and a minor under 12. Detectives also reported that Mayes requested child sexual abuse material from the minor. Mayes allegedly admitted to sending sexually explicit photos to the child and had plans to meet with them.

A true bill was returned on Clifton McKinney of Dawson Springs on charges of failing to comply with the sex offender registry and first-degree persistent felony offender between January 20, 2025 and February 25, 2025. The case was investigated by the Dawson Springs Police Department.
