Herbert Board, 75, of Caldwell County

Herbert Michael “Mike” Board, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in Evansville, IN, at the age of 75. Born on December 23, 1949, in Princeton, KY, Herbert lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.

Mike’s journey began as a teller at Farmers Bank in his hometown, where his strong work ethic and innate financial acumen saw him rise through the ranks to become a respected loan officer and eventually Vice President. His commitment to public service was further demonstrated during his tenure as Mayor of Fredonia from 2004 to 2017, where he was known for his pragmatic leadership and unwavering integrity.

A man of deep faith, Mike was an active member of White Sulphur Baptist Church. He shared his wisdom as a Sunday school teacher and served with humility as a deacon. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for bird hunting and farming, activities that brought him great joy and peace.

Mike’s life was a testament to the power of showing up consistently with love and support. He never missed an event important to his children or grandchildren, always there to cheer them on or offer a ride to practice. His memory will be treasured by all who knew him as a loving and dependable pillar of his family and community.

Mike’s selfless nature shone brightest in his devotion to his family. He was a steadfast presence in the lives of his sons, Shane Board of Fredonia and Kevin (Jennifer) Board of Princeton. His love extended to his grandchildren, Tori Board (Bill) Schroeder, Shayann (Bryant Millikan) Board, Gabe Board, and Gavin Board, and he was a doting great-grandfather to Brooks and Blair Schroeder. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Board of Cadiz, and brother, Gerald (Shirley) Board of Eddyville.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Faye Tosh Board, his parents, Haydon Board and Lucy Geraldine Cartwright Board Vinson, and his brother, Bennie Board, Herbert leaves behind a legacy of faith-filled, selfless love.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow at White Sulphur Church Cemetery.
