Beloved 99-Year-Old Veteran Injured After Scooter Collision in Princeton

A well-known community member and beloved veteran was transported to a Paducah hospital after his motorized scooter was hit by a vehicle in Princeton Thursday morning.

Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allision said the investigation found that a car driven by 46-year-old Melissa Taylor from Princeton was heading north on North Plum Street shortly before 10:00 a.m. when, at the intersection with West Locust Street, she collided with a motorized scooter operated by 99-year-old Harlan C. Beck. According to police, Taylor said she did not see the scooter, and it’s currently unknown which direction Beck came from, as he was receiving treatment from AmeriPro EMS.

Police reported Beck was transported by EMS to Lourdes Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Princeton Police are continuing to investigate the collision.
