Eddyville Teen Awarded LG&E And KU Scholarship

Alyssa Bozeman of Eddyville is among ten standout students across Kentucky to be awarded scholarships from the LG&E and KU Foundation as they move on to the next phase of their academic careers.
The Foundation is recognizing the ten students as “Future Bright Lights” — leaders of tomorrow empowered through Foundation efforts such as scholarships, STEAM support and academic partnerships. Officials with the Foundation say each of the scholarship recipients is awarded $1,200 in renewal financial assistance for up to four years. They indicate that each of the scholarship winners are children of LG&E and KU employees and the dollars awarded are intended for tuition, books, fees, supplies and classroom equipment.
LG&E and KU Vice President of Communications and Corporate Responsibility, Chris Whelan says they want to give our young adults every opportunity to succeed and help remove even small burdens so they can focus on their education. He added that they are proud to support their academic journey and wish them the very best.
The scholarship recipients were chosen by the Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of individuals not associated with LG&E or KU. The students were selected based on the recipients academic skills, school and community activities, leadership abilities, and communication skills demonstrated by each student’s personal statement.
