Caldwell Grand Jury Returns Drug Trafficking, Drug Possession Indictments

The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned a total of sixteen felony indictments and one no true bill during its June 3 session, including numerous charges for drug possession and drug trafficking.
22-year old Darrin M. Matthews of Princeton was indicted on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance over 2 grams of methamphetamine – 1st offense, failure to wear seat belts, and operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license. The charges stem from April 16 when Princeton police conducted a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on Baldwin Avenue and found Matthews was driving on a suspended license. Police said when he got out of the vehicle, he dropped a small plastic baggie that they suspected was meth.
A true bill was returned on 26-year old Colin J. Brasher of Princeton for first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, operating on a suspended license and failure to or improper signal. The charges are in connection to a traffic stop conducted by Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies in April after a vehicle Brasher was driving turned onto Marion Road at a stoplight without signaling. Brasher and his passenger, 27-year old Christina Schlesinger of Clarksville were both arrested, however, the grand jury returned a no true bill on Schlesinger. A no true bill means the charges were dismissed because the grand jury did not find enough evidence to charge Schlesinger with violating the law.
The grand jury indicted 47-year old Jeanne R. Clark, whose address is listed as unknown, on charges of public intoxication and first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. The charges are from April when Clark was taken into custody by deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation after they responded to a call at Casey’s General Store of a woman acting erratically inside the store.
26-year old Dalton James Fluaitt of Princeton was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. The charges are from April when Princeton police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart and then located Fluaitt at the American Inn. He was arrested on a Caldwell County Bench Warrant for probation violation for a felony offense. He was also reportedly found in possession of meth and marijuana when he was taken into custody.
The News Edge will have more indictments in the coming days.
