Magistrates Approve 2-Month Contract For New Alert Notification System


Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates approved a 2-month contract with a new emergency alert notification system at Tuesday morning’s meeting.
Magistrates voted to approve the contract with Hyper-Reach Alert System for August and September to move away from CodeRed. District 4 Magistrate Jeff Simms explained the reason they are going with the two-month contract is to align with the federal calendar in order to apply for federal funding.

District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone explained that Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin had pointed out that the annual contract with Hyper-Reach would save the county $2,500 a year and the county would control the data of those signed up to receive alert notifications.


click to download audioJudge pro tem and District 3 magistrate Brent Stallins, who presided over the meeting in the absence of Judge-Executive Larry Curling, said they would be voting on the Hyper-Reach contract again in September for a one-year contract.
In other new business, magistrates approved bids for recycling surplus in the amount of $75 for a lawnmower and $250 for a van trailer.
