Plans are coming together for the annual Black Patch Heritage Festival with a couple of new events added this year.
Princeton Optimist Club President George Kilgore announced Wednesday that the Black Patch Pageants are returning this year and will be held on Labor Day, the Monday prior to the festival.
click to download audioHe noted they will be adding a “Miss Plus” category to the Black Patch pageants this year.
click to download audioThere will also be another new event this year. The Caldwell County Sportsman Club will be hosting a Black Patch 3D Archery Shoot the last weekend of August. Club President Adam Cruzen says they will be awarding trophies and ribbons.
click to download audioHe adds that it is for males and females from 6 years old and up, with the 6 to 8-year-olds able to participate in the archery tournament for free.
Cruzen says the inaugural Black Patch 3D Archery Shoot will be held at the Jones-Keeney Wildlife Management Area gun range located at 15182 Dawson Road between Princeton and Dawson Springs.
Kilgore says Black Patch Festival will also include a petting zoo which will be provided by James Alan Boone. It will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, in the grassy area beside Princeton City Hall. Donations will be accepted to participate in the petting zoo, with the funds to be divided between the Caldwell County FFA and Caldwell County 4-H.
The Caldwell County FFA will be having its pedal tractor pull again this year on Black Patch Day in the parking lot at City Hall, and the Princeton Art Guild will be hosting “Art on Main” on Main Street in front of the Art Guild. And the Friends of the George Coon Public Library have announced they will be having their annual book sale during Black Patch again this year. The days and times are:
Saturday September 3— 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
Tuesday September 6— 9:00 am to 7:00pm
Wednesday September 7– 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Thursday September 8— 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Friday September 9— 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Saturday September 10– 9:00 am to Noon.
The Black Patch Heritage Festival will be Friday and Saturday, September 9th-10th. The Black Patch Parade will kick off the festival at 5:00 that Friday afternoon.
