The Jeffers Bend Environmental Center will host its inaugural Hummingbird Festival Sunday afternoon with free admission.
David Chiles is active in the botanical area of the center and said he borrowed the idea for a hummingbird festival from a similar event at Land Between the Lakes.

click to download audioThere will also be educational opportunities to learn about hummingbirds, how to make feeders, and what plants allow their existence to thrive.

click to download audioChiles and his wife Susan have been very active at Jeffers Bend through the years. A children’s garden was started by the couple 15 years ago and is tilled, fertilized and mulched by the couple and local children each summer.
A wildlife observatory was built along the walking trail that was an Eagle Scout project of their son Andrew.
