Another superload will be traveling along Interstate 24 through parts of Lyon, Caldwell and Trigg counties Friday morning to reach its destination in Hopkinsville.
State transportation officials say a specialized hauler plans to leave Eddyville Riverport with a 480-ton superload around 7:00 a.m. and travel KY 93 southbound to the KY 293 Princeton-Eddyville Exit 45 interchange, then head east on I-24 to U.S. 68 Cadiz-Hopkinsville.
Once the 16-foot wide hauler enters I-24, the load will move at about 40 miles per hour with a police escort and support vehicles.
Motorists should be alert for slow-moving traffic following this load and use appropriate caution and follow directions from police escorting the caravan. Patience will also be required, particularly where the overweight/over-dimensional load slows to make turns.
Once the slow-moving caravan reaches the U.S. 68 Cadiz Exit 65 Interchange, the superload will head east on U.S. 68 to Hopkinsville.
The first of six trips along this route occurred last week. After this second superload on Friday, more trips are planned every few days over the next week or two.
