The owner of Northfield Family Bowling Center announced Monday night that “as it stands right now the bowling center will be closing after midnight October 1st.”
Jim Garner made the announcement on social media and said he and his staff have done everything they could “but the financial burden has become too big.”
In the post on Facebook, Garner thanked all the people who have worked for him and with him for the past ten years along with the league members, the special Olympic kids who came out with hearts full of love and made everything better, and Bright Life Farms residents who he noted made the bowling center brighter.
Garner said he would “continue to chase dreams” because that’s what he does best. But, he added, when the dream becomes a nightmare, you can’t sleep because of the stress and the negatives start piling on then you have to let go. He went on to say they love Princeton and expressed his gratitude to the city and the surrounding areas for giving them the chance to do what they loved. Garner invited the public to stop by and bowl a game or two over the next two weeks.
In a Tuesday afternoon post on social media, officials with Northfield Family Bowling Center said they have organized a Go Fund Me account to help the center stay open, however, they noted nothing is promised. Officials went on to say they are also trying to put together a fundraiser at the bowling center this upcoming weekend or next to help raise money as well. Officials added they will keep everyone updated in the next two weeks, and concluded the post by expressing “this is a long shot but it also takes a village.” Julie Brown is the organizer of the Go Fund Me account.
