A Missouri couple arrested in Princeton Wednesday morning is facing additional charges out of McCracken County.
Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison reports officers served 36-year old Steven M. Hayes and 33-year old Dawn A. Morgan, both of St. Louis, with McCracken County arrest warrants at the Caldwell County Jail charging them with theft by unlawful taking auto over $10,000, and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more. Hayes was also charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000, second-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree criminal mischief.
Hayes and Morgan were taken into custody by Princeton Police Wednesday morning after officers responded to a call from Walmart about a suspicious couple who had set up camping chairs and other items in the parking lot. During the investigation, police reported it was determined the couple was in a stolen vehicle out of McCracken County. Police said the couple was also found in possession of a stolen registration plate, approximately 2.5 grams of meth and a prescription bottle belonging to someone else containing a schedule 3 narcotic.
The couple was taken into custody and charged in Caldwell County with receiving stolen property over $1,000, theft of a motor vehicle registration plate, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
