Princeton Police Department Awarded DOJ Grant

Princeton Police Chief Chris King

The Princeton Police Department has been awarded a Department of Justice grant for just over $98,000.
Police Chief Chris King made the announcement at the Princeton City Council meeting Monday night and said they applied for the grant in April. He said this money will be used to outfit a dozen police cruisers.

click to download audioThe police chief also delivered some sad and good news to the city council. He first delivered the “sad news”. He said the police department is down two officers now due to one officer leaving to join the Department of Juvenile Justice and another officer has been deployed with the National Guard.


click to download audioIn April 2021, Chief King presented Officer John Hibbs with a meritorous medal for his life-saving efforts after he responded to a 911 call on the afternoon of March 16, 2021, on Cave Street and provided medical assistance to a man until the Caldwell County EMS arrived on the scene.
On a lighter note, Chief King says the police department will have two new officers on the streets soon after they complete training at the police academy.
