While burn bans are in effect in neighboring counties due to dry conditions, Fire Chief Brent Francis told magistrates there is no outdoor burn ban in Caldwell County.
Lyon County Judge-Executive Wade White issued an outdoor burn ban by executive order Tuesday morning, while Trigg County Judge-executive Hollis Alexander issued a similar order on Monday. Crittenden County Judge-Executive Perry Newcom issued a burn ban by executive order on September 26.
At Tuesday morning’s Caldwell County Fiscal Court meeting, Chief Francis said he has consulted with the U.S. Forestry amid the ongoing drought and they are not recommending a burn ban at this time.

The driest 75-day period on record in Paducah was in 1983 when 0.45 inches of rain fell from July 7 to September 19.
The National Weather Service in Paducah is calling for a 50 percent chance of showers late Wednesday afternoon. After Wednesday’s chance of storms, a period of very dry and breezy conditions will arrive. Combined with the ongoing drought and dry fire fuels, this will lead to an elevated fire danger from Thursday through Saturday.
