Caldwell County FFA Will Attend National Convention


The Caldwell County FFA Chapter will be attending the 95th National FFA Convention next week in Indianapolis Indiana.
This Convention is one of the largest annual youth gatherings in the Nation where 65,000 members of local Chapters come together to compete, share ideas and hear outstanding speakers. During the convention, there are various workshops and displays to help members grow in the FFA program.
High School Principal Aaron McClung will be accompanying the 20 members and 3 teachers to the Convention where he will attend the Administrators Workshop. The group will be making other stops en route to the Indianapolis, Student Teacher Mac Killian is from that area and shares other stops the group has planned.


click to download audioFFA member Laney Jones is excited about attending the Convention this year. She explained the local Chapter will be featured on stage for a 15-minute presentation of a program they began called “FFA Under Lights” Since creating this program locally it has spread to area Chapters and is now going to be shared nationwide.


click to download audioThis program is designed to recognize FFA members who also compete in local sports activities. They stress that the FFA is an organization that does not compete with other school activities but encourages and promotes groups working together both inside the school and on the playing field. Jones explains how the program operates.


click to download audioTo show their commitment to the idea the local FFA Chapter will be returning to Princeton on Friday to support the Football team on Senior night.
Another activity currently underway is the Caldwell County FFA Alumni & Friends annual sausage and sorghum sales. The sausage is made from local hogs produced from the Laurent family farm and the sorghum is from an area Amish farm. Advisor Magen Woods shared about the fundraiser.
